Ayrburn Chardonnay 2025 is a Central Otago Chardonnay from Ayrburn in Arrowtown, New Zealand. Cameron Douglas (Master Sommelier) describes a nutty, rich bouquet of stone fruit and baking spices, then a dry, fuller-bodied palate with citrus, apple and fine tannin. It suits anyone who likes Chardonnay with texture.
Pour a glass and the nose is rich and nutty, with stone fruit and baking spices. Cameron Douglas MS also picked out spice and mineral scents, fresh white and yellow stone fruit, baked apple and citrus pith.
On the palate it is dry and fuller-bodied, with citrus, stone fruit and apple, plenty of spice and an acid line that keeps it tense and fresh. It suits a long lunch or a roast chicken dinner.
Cameron Douglas found it well made and youthful, and suggests drinking it now and through to 2034.
